Yayy - Detroit Pistons Take Game 1…and Memorial Day Weekend

Ahh, what sweet, sweet satisfaction. There’s nothing like having your favorite team hand someone their first playoff loss, their first loss in 11 games (or something like that), and taking away their home-court advantage as well. I don’t expect the Miami Heat to just lay down after this, in fact I’m sure they’ll win game 2, but that was a great game and a great win for Detroit last night.

Hmm, what else is there to life? Not much! Just kidding. I’m looking forward to Memorial Day weekend. Shannon (she’s new around these parts, everyone say hi!) will be accompanying me to the Milwaukee area to enjoy the sights and sounds of Wisconsin. Maybe check out the Zoo, a brewery tour here and there, a museum or two, and other fun activities. Perhaps along the way we should all give thanks to those who have served and died for our country and given us this time to relax.

Other than that, not too much else going on. Congrats to my sister Leanne on graduating next week (already! wow) and I’ll for sure be there to party down. How come nobody parties up?

Alright, well all you peeps take it easy, ya heard?

People party up, as in “We’re gonna party it up tonight!”

    Get with it.

  2. Brad Bice |

    Oh, somebody’s asking for it.

Go Pistons, 89-90 Back 2 Back! It’s HAMMER TIME! Er, wait…

I should post this under the more relevant heading but whatever. If this were /. I would get modded down to 2 - extremely lazy. Anyway- techtv.com has a bunch of E3 videos, you don’t have to pay or even sign up to see them…

And, uh, who’s Shannon? Hi Shannon!

  4. Brad Bice |

Ohh yeah, I saw some of those. Hey do you have a Nintendo DS? I kind of want one now. Is it worth it? But I wonder if a newer, sleeker version will be coming out soon.

Shannon is this nice person I’ve met here in Jackson. She puts up with me. For that she should be applauded.

I stole a DS from some kid on a bike just the other day.

It’s pretty awesome, to me it sounded stupid but once you play with the screen it all makes sense. They came up with some really cool ways to use a touch screen, some of the games use a stylus for pointing at specific things, some you just slide your finger on across the screen (a la the old arcade bowling games with the ball), and some just put a couple of extra buttons there.

It’s got two slots in it, it plays every GB, GBC, GBA, and DS game. Graphics? Think N64, but a little better because the smallish screens make it look high res-ish. All probably stuff you already knew but yeah, I think it’s worth it. I don’t think they’re going to come out with a newer sleeker one until at least XMas 2K7, this year is supposed to be the GB Micro which I think is just a really small GBA.

BTW what did you say the address of the 24-hour Shannon-Cam was?

  6. Brad Bice |

Hmm, I’ll have to work on that Shannon-Cam.

Yeah I think I’m pretty convinced about the DS. Besides, I played Warioware on it and 3 hours later I decided to stop playing and leave Best Buy. I’m just not too down with a PSP. Plus the DS is cheap. and I’m a Nintendo nerd so I like their crap.

I’ll have to move it up a little on my “must buy right away, even before bills are paid” list.

That’s just 2 SWEET. PSP looks cool but it had better take out the garbage and mow the lawn for as expensive as it is.

I wish Nintendo would get their S together, I think they’re going to get slammed again in the next round of consoles…

  8. Shannon |

Wow, I can’t believe you guys just talked that much about video games. Or whatever all those letters meant.

That’s all, just wanted to chime in since my name was mentioned a couple times. Continue with the PSP, GB, DS, MLERJCN discussion.

    You wouldn’t understand….you’re a GIRL.

  10. Mark |

It’s odd that she’s shocked that we typed 4 or 5 paragraphs about video games. What does she think we’ve been doing for the last 20 years?

That’s like saying an ice cube sunk the Titanic. If you’ve never heard Brad debate on consoles and various other gaming platforms, you’re just scratchin’ the surface.

  11. Brad Bice |

Shhh!! Ghost from the past! Ghost from the past!!

Shannon’s pretty aware of my nerd-ness, and she’s surprisingly tolerant.

  12. Shannon |

Well I haven’t known the boy that long. Give me chance. I like myself a good nerd, but I also like to tease them about it.

As long as he doesn’t start talking to me about consoles and whatever else you said. The best I could muster would be a blank stare.

  13. Mark |

    To Brad:
Sorry, I didn’t mean to get you in trouble. I’ll set this straight.

    To Shannon:
I was only kidding about all the console talk, it’s just pretty amazing how much ‘nerd information’ we picked up when we were pummeling misfits and weaklings in high school. Brad and I were actually big time jocks, both first team all American, natch.

  14. Shannon |

I was kidding too. My sarcasm doesn’t seem to be transmitting in the virtual world very well these days.

I was pretty sure Brad was an all American big time jock in high school. Since he’s all huge and ripped and stuff. [

  15. Mark |

Many apologies, all things in context. We used to call Brad Scotch as in Scotch tape because he was so ripped in the day.

Good to see he’s kept his Schwarzeneggar-meets-Shaq-esque figure.
