I’ve been working a lot lately. Mostly at my full/part-time job at B & I Nameplate, but also working on designing and administering the growing portfolio of clients at Ryaleigh Web Design in Jackson, MI, such as Custom Modular Homes, LLC . You can see a list of some of the websites we’ve worked on and some of the companies we’ve worked with down at the bottom of this page. Some of them Scott and I worked on together under the Breathingfire.com name. But as Scott moved away and took on other more pressing responsibilities (like getting engaged), I continued the work and renamed the company Ryanleigh.
Some of the recent projects have turned out rather well. Technitrol, Inc. in Wisconsin had me do some updating (ok, a lot of updating) to the very first website that Breathingfire.com ever did. Three years later and it was time for an overhaul. My skills as a designer have advanced ever so slightly, and I was even able to program a custom content management system for them, so that they could add news, products, and pictures to the website. I worked closely with Ed and Jim and still continue to work with them to fully optimize their website for their visitors and for search engines.
Speaking of search engines, Custom Modular Homes, LLC contracted Ryanleigh to help optimize their website for better search engine result placement. Their website couldn’t even be found in Google, Yahoo or MSN. Shortly after re-strusturing their website and adding a touch of “white-hat” SEO techniques, they have climbed to a respectible Google Pagerank of 2, and I’m watching them close to so they can catch up with their competitors. Search Engine Optimization isn’t just an advertising gimmick. Proper search engine result placement is as important as a clean, easy to approach store front. Most everyone uses a search engine such as Google or Yahoo to find content on the web. it’s important that they find good, quality information about subjects such as mobile homes in michigan, at least onthe first few pages, because no one will go past those first 15-25 results. Ryanleigh is working hard to give them a respectable ranking while not resorting to certain “black-hat” techniques, meaning cheating or sacrificing respectability and proper structure for recognition.
So these are a few of the things I’m keeping busy with around here. Not sure why i wanted to post that, but there it is!
