2007 NBA Playoffs bracket, now in XHTML 1.0 Strict!

By Brad on

In possibly the nerdiest thing I’ve done yet today, I have continued my annual tradition (now in it’s fourth year!) of posting an NBA Playoffs bracket (click that link to see it) for the masses of Breathingfire.com readers.

Usually this consists of an image that I throw together in Photoshop every time the bracket changes.

This year, I thought I’d try something different, and the bracket is now created using XHTML and CSS (XHTML providing structure in the form of ordered and unordered lists, and CSS to provide the positioning and background images for the bracket and teams.)

I’m also searching for a way to have it update automatically, but I have yet to find a reliable source that provides an easy method for snatching up the current standings. This won’t be much of a problem during the actual Playoffs, as the field will be set and the bracket won’t change very frequently. This is fixed and it is updating on it’s own now!

So, take a gander, and make sure you set it as your starting page in your browser. And email the link to all of your friends, telling them if they don’t send it to 10 of their friends, they will die in hell or something silly like all of those emails that are going around.

And at the end I’ll make an image out of it so that it can forever be preserved and copied and passed on as someone else’s work. Gotta love the internet!

Update From Florida: Mon/Tue

By Brad on

Monday was another cool day, almost too cool to be out by the pool, but we suffered through it anyways. Shan and I spent some time sunning ourselves and even got in the pool for a little bit.

Later on we visited a little community called Seaside, home to the eccentric vacationer and retirees. Michael Jordan was building a house there that looked not unlike a courthouse. Not sure if he’s going for the basketball court reference there or not.

Tuesday we borrowed some tennis rackets and balls and played for awhile. Then hit the pool again until lunchtime. Lunch was pizza at Salvatore’s where I got in an argument with a lady on staff over there stupid refill policy. After some shopping we tried our hands at miniature golf.

We’ve spotted a few dolphins in the water out from the condo. They peek their heads and fins up every once ina while.

Update from Florida: Sat/Sun

By Brad on

Just writing a quick update to log what we’re doing in Florida.

We drove down from Thursday to Saturday, making overnight stops in Louisville and Montgomery. We barely missed the big tornados in southern Alabama, and actually drove through the county where the tornados had gone through.

After arriving, we started to take it easy, and stayed inside because of the cool temperature (67). Shan’s wonderful Grandpa and Grandma are playing hosts to us for the week, and they treated us to a yummy lasagne meal. After that we watched TV a while before calling a night.

Sunday consisted of sleeping in, sitting on the balcony in the sun, driving out to see a little town for rich people (including one of Michael Jordan’s houses,) came back for a nap, ate yummy ham sandwishes, and then watched tv and played some cards. Temperatures were low today as well, only topping out at around 62. So, we have yet to go poolside, though we did take a cold, windy walk on the beach today.
