In possibly the nerdiest thing I’ve done yet today, I have continued my annual tradition (now in it’s fourth year!) of posting an NBA Playoffs bracket (click that link to see it) for the masses of Breathingfire.com readers.
Usually this consists of an image that I throw together in Photoshop every time the bracket changes.
This year, I thought I’d try something different, and the bracket is now created using XHTML and CSS (XHTML providing structure in the form of ordered and unordered lists, and CSS to provide the positioning and background images for the bracket and teams.)
I’m also searching for a way to have it update automatically, but I have yet to find a reliable source that provides an easy method for snatching up the current standings. This won’t be much of a problem during the actual Playoffs, as the field will be set and the bracket won’t change very frequently. This is fixed and it is updating on it’s own now!
So, take a gander, and make sure you set it as your starting page in your browser. And email the link to all of your friends, telling them if they don’t send it to 10 of their friends, they will die in hell or something silly like all of those emails that are going around.
And at the end I’ll make an image out of it so that it can forever be preserved and copied and passed on as someone else’s work. Gotta love the internet!
