Snow and Christmas movies
It snowed a lot today and it was wonderful. I love snow, especially when there’s an absolute ton of it. It didn’t accumulate that much yet, but it still made me happy to see those huge flakes coming down. I know a lot of people who hate winter, hate snow and hate the cold. I don’t like the cold as much (especially walking to class in it,) but I love the snow. I love driving in it, walking in it, and playing in it. I’m such a kid when it comes to winter.
And along with the first snow and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday comes another of the best parts of winter: Christmas movies!! Yes, I’m loving the Christmas movies. I’ve built a small collection of my favorites, and they are makefor mandatory viewing material in the time leading up to Christmas. Here’s the best of the best, in order:
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
- elf
- Home Alone (yeah that’s right, I said it)
- Mixed Nuts
- Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon and Jim Carrey version)
- The Original Christmas Classics (Rudolph & Frosty)
I don’t have it on DVD yet but I’ll add “A Charlie Brown Christmas” to the list when I get it.
I never got into “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Story,” or “Miracle on 34th Street.” I haven’t watched any of them all the way through. Other honorable mentions include “Scrooged” (haven’t seen it yet,) “The Preacher’s Wife,” “You’ve Got Mail,” “The Muppet Christmas Carol,” and “White Christmas.” Definitely not on the list: “Jingle All the Way,” “Ernest Saves Christmas,” “Deck The Halls,” “Christmas With the Kranks,” “Bad Santa,” and any of the “Santa Clauses.”
If I missed any, let me know.
