Waiting..waiting.. to show off my 2007 NBA Playoffs Bracket!
I’ve made a few improvements under the hood of my 2007 NBA Playoffs Bracket, just in time for the games to begin on Saturday.
I looked into having it update on it’s own, but that was a little too much work for the moment. So instead, here’s what’s new:
- Little green arrows that show how many games each team has won on their path to the ‘chip.’
- Hover over that little arrow with your mouse and you’ll see what game they won and the score. (Oooo…)
- I add the past years’ brackets to the menu at the top, so you can cycle through those and see how things went.
Coming soon due to special request: A print stylesheet, with hi-res images! The hi-res print stylesheet is live!
Umm, yeah, that’s it. Maybe I’ll add more later, but i want it to be clean and nice and the prettiest 2007 NBA Playoffs bracket there is! (and there’s some horrible ones out there)
And yes, I’ll be fixing some alignment issues for IE7 (you should be using Firefox or Safari.)

Sweet, this is exciting. I haven’t been following it as close this year… what do you think the Pistons odds are with the Magic?
The Pistons should win in 4 games, easily. They’re that much better than the magic. No one is giving Orlando any chance to win this series.
So that means Detroit will struggle, be over-confident, and probably take the series to 7 games.
Is there any chance the bracket can be used as a page loading background in my site?
This is awesome, and i really like it to be my page loading background. Thanks.. Phoenix all the way..
Sorry, but please don’t use the bracket in that way. I’m not even really sure what you want to do with it, but please don’t use it.
Thanks for asking, though!
Very nice bracket, sir; I love playoff trees. It’s a wonder that NBA.com can’t put together something this simple and effective. In fact, I don’t think any of the major sites show a tree(?).
Look out for Rockets in the West, especially if S.A. or Dal goes down. T-Mac and Yao are better than they’ve ever been. Without the injury, you’d be looking at the league MVP in Yao and T-Mac (unlike Kobe) shares the ball.
Thanks, Andy. I agree that Houston is looking much better this year than in past postseasons. I’m just glad Detroit is in the east!
Change the green arrows to something else….maybe numbers
gman: Hmm, I don’t know. I thought about doing a countdown for each team with each win, from 16 down to 1. But I felt it would be a jumble of numbers and text. Maybe I’m wrong. I just wanted to retain the simple and clean look.
What does everyone else think, are the arrows not working?
Very nice work. I googled for NBA playoff bracket and the first hit I got turned out to be the best (yours)!. Thought I’d add my two cents. Very clean and straight forward design. Like someone said before, how did espn/nba.com/some sports site, not ever think of something simple like.
As far as the arrows go, I think they are great. The less letters/numbers to add confusion the better. The hover over/score pop up is just gravy.
Bookmarking your site now, so I’ll have a nice NBA bracket for this season and beyond!
I’ve got San Antonio this year and Memphis next year (I know, no chance, but I can dream)!
I personally like that the arrows are there to show the number of wins that each team has in their series. However, I don’t know if the green arrow icons are the best way to represent that. I would suggest you change the green arrows to basketballs.
Nice work.
I’m loving the bracket… my only suggestion would be seeing if there was a way to link each arrow to the game’s stats/boxscore/recap on the NBA website.
Matt: Thanks for the compliments!
eddy: I might stick with the green arrows for now (going for a “positive, forward-motion” thing.) But I will keep your suggestion in mind. Thanks!
Paul: Thanks. I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment and add suggestions. This isn’t a feat of excellence or anything, but I have put a little bit of work into it and I’m glad people are enjoying it.
Jesse: Good idea, I was actually thinking of something like that. I’ll probably add it in time for the second round.
Chicago has had a good chance at both sports this year.. they better not mess this one up.. they juss have to keep there heads in the game and not let ne thing get in front of them!!!!
This bracket is the best!!
If you follow hockey I’d like seeing one for the current playoffs modeled after this one!
This sucks like hell. I wanted the bulls to win but stupid gordon and the others had to loose at home and be elimenated. I hope that you call a rematch and I am going to the coach of deitroit and saying in his face I want a rematch and FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zack: Sorry about your Bulls!
Mike1: (not sure if you’re the same person) I’ve considered doing brackets like these next year for all the sports. we’ll see how things turn out but it’s looking like it will happen. I’m thinking NFL Playoffs, MLB Division and champioship series, NCAA tournament and NHL Playoff brackets. That’s a big undertaking though, so maybe we’ll start with NFL and see how that goes.
Mike2: Don’t be so hard on everything. Chicago will get another big man in there and will eventually take over the East. If they can bring Detroit to the edge now, just think what they can do with one more power player. If they can keep every one of thier starters besides PJ brown, then they will have an awesome team for the next 5 years. I hope Detroit can win one more, but after that, it doesn’t matter so much as long as Miami and Washington don’t win!
I really don’t think you should make the bracket until the playoffs actually start. I don’t like seeing a playoff bracket in November. There is still the rest of the season to play!
Joe - Thanks for the comments. My response is “What does it hurt?” I’m not using it to back any argument of who is better than whom, it’s just for entertainment purposes only. Of course there is still the rest of the season to play. But one thing this does show is whereabouts teams will be located (especially once we get into March and April and positions start to solidify.)
Mainly it’s just for fun, though.
